Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my community qualifies for a tree?
Any public location in Licking County can apply to receive a 1500 Trees for Life planting. (Just email us at 1500trees@gmail.com). Locations are selected based on need and ability to maintain plantings. See a map and list of our locations.
When are trees planted?
We plant trees twice per year (April and November) to take advantage of optimal planting conditions.
How will the trees be maintained?
All trees will be planted in public areas that can provide, and have committed to, ongoing maintenance. 1500 Trees is not responsible for tree maintenance, that is the responsibility of the organization or public group hosting the planting.
What kinds of trees will be planted?
We only plant native tree species. All will be native to Ohio, including evergreens, ornamentals, and shade trees appropriate to the conditions of the various sites.
Can I donate a tree for someone's private property?
While we encourage people to plant trees on their property, all trees in our 1500 Trees for Life project will be planted in designated public areas only.
Can I donate a tree in memory or in honor of someone?
Yes! To do so, simply write the person’s name in the space provided on our Donate-A-Tree application.
Are donations of any amount welcome?
Absolutely! While you can donate a full tree ($150 for a 6-8 foot tree, or $200 for a 12-15’ tree), you can also make a smaller donation of any amount. Many of our donors have also chipped in with groups of friends or neighbors to buy a full tree together. Learn more here.
